National ID Card Renewal

Introduction

The national ID card can be renewed through the Consulate. In the event any data on the national ID card needs to be amended, necessary documents will be required.
The national ID card has a validity of 7 years.

Required Documents:

  • Original National ID card
  • Documents required in case data on the National ID card needs to be amended (check required documents below)
  • Fees: $120.00 (Non-refundable once the form is filled out)
    • Payment Methods:
      • Cash
      • Australia Post money order, or bank cheque (personal/business checks are not accepted), and must be payable to the “Consulate General of Egypt”.

Documents required in case data on the National ID card needs to be amended:

Proof of marital status:
  1. Martial status of (Single) is proven by a citizen’s signed declaration form.
  2. Martial status of (Married/Divorced) is proven by the following options:
    1. Egyptian (marriage or divorce) document or the original paper document or an official copy of it.
    2. For anyone who has reached the age of sixty-five (65) years, his marital status (divorced/widowed) is proven by his national ID card only, whether (for men or women).
Proof of residence:
  1. The national ID card, passport or driver’s license is considered in the proof of residence and is not required to be valid.
  2. The place of residence (residing abroad) is proven by approving the consulate stamp on the place of residence in the form.
Proof of occupations for government and public sector employees and pensioners:
  1. For government employees who have not reached the legal retirement age of (60) years: To prove their job title, an official letter approved by the relevant authority must be attached.
Proof of occupations for professionals:
  1. Union professions are proven under (the seal of the competent union on the national ID card form / valid union card / separate letter stating his membership in the union) provided that either of them is issued in the same year as the application for the national ID card.
  2. The trade union profession is proven against the word “abroad” under the Egyptian passport issued by the consulate in which the trade union status abroad “required to be proven” is recorded.
Proof of studying or qualification:
  1. Union professions are proven under (the seal of the competent union on the national ID card form / valid union card / separate letter stating his membership in the union) provided that either of them is issued in the same year as the application for the national ID card.
  2. The trade union profession is proven against the word “abroad” under the Egyptian passport issued by the consulate in which the trade union status abroad “required to be proven” is recorded.

Lodging the Application

In Person:

To apply in person, an appointment is required.

Book an appointment and bring all the required documents.

By Mail:

Mail the following to our postal address: (Postal Address: G.P.O. Box 1258, Sydney, NSW, 2001)
  • Required documents (Listed Above)
  • Fees: Payment by Australia Post money order or bank cheque (personal/business checks are not accepted), and must be payable to the “Consulate General of Egypt”.
  • Pre-paid self-addressed envelope
The Consulate will mail back your original documents and the application form using the above-mentioned prepaid envelope.
Once you receive the application form, complete it and sign it in front of a public notary before mailing it back to the Consulate
